As the year comes to a close, I wanted to send you a note of appreciation and holiday cheer from the team at EURACTIV.
The end of the year is a time to reflect on what we have accomplished, but also to envision what can be done in the year to come.
2019 was a year of big changes for Europe. Our team worked hard to cover the EU elections and the formation of a new Commission, working closely with our media network partners to give our readers the full picture, from Sofia to Paris to the halls of the Berlaymont.
We launched The Capitals, our morning newsletter that draws on national-level expertise from our network of newsrooms across Europe (you can subscribe for free here, if you aren’t already a Capitals reader!). I feel excited about working more and more closely with our colleagues in Europe’s capitals and bringing their insights to Brussels, and vice-versa.
After a year of challenges for Europe on many fronts, we looked toward the future with a special ambition to gather 20 Visions for Europe from politicians, industry representatives, free-thinkers, civic actors, youth and artists, something I’ll be thinking about a lot as we head into the coming year.
2020 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for Europe, and we will be here to report on it all. Our readership is at its highest point, our business is growing — and more than ever, we appreciate your support for what we do.
Wishing you and yours a warm and festive holiday season and all the best in the new year!
